Workflow Versioning

Serval automatically tracks all published versions of your workflows, allowing you to view historical changes and restore previous versions when needed.

Viewing Workflow Versions

Hover over the version status in the workflow action bar, then select Full version history. This option appears when the workflow has history beyond the version on screen. The sidebar separates Published versions from Draft versions. Published entries include:

• Version numbers
• Publication dates and times
• Who published each version

Restoring Previous Versions

If you need to revert to an earlier version of your workflow, you can easily restore it:

1. Open Published versions in the version history sidebar.
2. Hover over the version you want to restore and select Restore version.
3. If the current chat already has staged changes, confirm that you want to replace them.
4. Review the restored draft, then publish it when ready.

Working with Restored Versions

When you restore a previous version:

• The selected historical content becomes the working draft in your chat
• Existing staged changes in that chat are replaced after confirmation
• You can either publish it immediately or make additional modifications before publishing

Best Practices

• Regular Publishing: Publish your workflow changes regularly to maintain a comprehensive version history
• Version Notes: Consider adding descriptive names or comments to significant versions for easier identification
• Testing: Always test restored versions before publishing to ensure they still work as expected with any system changes

Reading Workflows Through the API

You can read workflows created by Catalyst through the public API before or after publication. Reading a workflow doesn’t publish its draft or change the published version.
